King County Court Cases Index, 1850s-1980 (KC3I)

Discover the stories behind King County’s people, property, and families with the King County Court Cases Index (KC3I) — a searchable collection of about 1.7 million court case entries dating from the 1850s to 1980. Built from a card file donated by the Chicago Title Company and transcribed by Seattle Genealogical Society volunteers, the KC3I is a valuable starting point for genealogy, property, and local history research.

Search the KC3I to uncover records such as:

  • Divorces and marriage dissolutions
  • Probate actions and wills
  • Name changes, guardianships, and community property agreements
  • Bankruptcies and commitments

Entries may include names, maiden names, marriage, divorce and death dates, case dates and case numbers. Use the case number to request full records from the King County Clerk’s Office or the Puget Sound Regional Branch of the Washington State Archives.
